The aesthetically decorated cottage consists of a kitchen and lounge with fireplaces in both, a dining room, three spacious bedrooms and two Victorian styled bathrooms. Enjoy watching eagles soaring over a unique landscape of quiver trees from your own private porch. Everything in this cottage was chosen to enrich your experience of the real Hantam Karoo hospitality.
Should a group of 16 people wish to make use of the space, it would be possible for both Kareeboom farm cottage a well as Kareeboom farmhouse to be occupied simultaneously. Both fall under the same management as Gannabos.
No cell phone reception is available, but free Wi-Fi can be accessed at Gannabos Farm.
PLEASE NOTE: Solar panels provide the basic electricity for appliances such as lights and chargers. As a result, electric appliances such as hairdryers, kettles and toasters cannot be accommodated. Hot water is provided by means of a gas geyser. There is also a gas stove and fridge in the kitchen. Old-fashioned paraffin lamps are randomly placed to create a cosy atmosphere during the evenings.
The cottage is fully stocked with braai tools, a grill and all kitchen necessities. Home–made farm products such as rusks, a variety of jams and preserved products including quinces and green figs are available for purchase.
Kareeboom farm cottage is perfect for enthusiastic photographers, birdwatchers, hikers and those wanting to experience wide open spaces, peace and solitude. A breathtaking view of a mountain range covered with majestic quiver trees awaits you here at the largest quiver tree forest in the southern hemisphere. For those travelling to Augrabies, Kgalagadi, or even the Kalahari, it is an ideal stopover. For couples looking for a romantic getaway, accommodation can be provided at Gannabos which is run under the same management.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be a limit set on the number of photographers and/or visitors entering the quiver tree forest between 18:00 and 06:00. A permit from the owner will be required at a cost of R250 per person should you be keen to experience the forest between these hours. Guests at Gannabos and Kareeboom have the privilege to come and go as they please, free of charge. Please remember that the quiver tree forest is on private property.
