Lokenburg Guesthouse (Lokenburg Farm)
Lokenburg is situated in the district of Nieuwoudtville, widely known for its unique vegetation and springtime floral splendor, the farm is unique in two respects. It was the first farm to get title deeds – in 1774 and it is the only farm to host a dwelling built by each one of the six generations that lived here. As a result, the buildings form a living narrative of rural architectural history. During 1992 Lokenburg was chosen as the ideal setting for filming “Die Manakwalanders”, an Artes Award winning Afrikaans TV-series.
Lokenburg is situated forty kilometers South of Nieuwoudtville, 70 km West of Calvinia and approximately 110 km (via Pakhuis Pass) to the Northeast of Clanwilliam. The “Uye Vallei” (so called due to the big variety of bulb plants in the valley) offers a vast untouched landscape, which offers the opportunity for outdoor exploration, abundant plant- and bird life. Lokenburg is a restful holiday base at any time of the year especially for those who look for peace and tranquility from the bustling urban life.
Lokenburg offers self-catering accommodation on an active sheep-, lavandin, rosemary, and rooibos tee farm at the 44-metre-long T shaped main homestead built in 1874 and can host up to seven guests.
