Nieuwoudtville - Quiver tree forest - Rondekop Route
From Nieuwoudtville towards Loeriesfontein, turn right at Gannabos turnoff, after 3 km the quiver tree forest is on your right on the northern slopes of the mountain. This circular route will bring you back to Nieuwoudtville. This is also a flower route in season.

A flower route in season Trekpad. A very short route just outside Nieuwoudtville, only in the flower season when the beautiful Romulea is a must see.

Nieuwoudtville - Grasberg - Down Hell Pass and turn back there, please.
Lovely scenic route past Grasberg, with beautiful vistas, also a good flower route in season, note the well-know Biekoes Sparaxis.
You could choose to continue down the Hell, through the Knersvlakte to Grootdrif, but there are no road signs there, so please be warned.

Circular Moedverloor Route
Drive out on the Oorlogskloof road, turn Right at the Moedverloor sign at Papkuilsfontein, continue on this lovely scenic drive all along the escarpment through Fynbos to Moedverloor (after Moedverloor you are entering a rain shadow area), until you reach the R364. Turn left to drive over the Botterkloof Pass, and at the Nieuwoudtville/Soutpan/Calvinia crossing, you turn back to Nieuwoudtville, this time returning to Nieuwoudtville through the Succulent Karoo with its lovely purple vygies in season. A full day on a lovely scenic drive. When in flower season, do this route the other way round, so that the sun stays behind you and the flowers face you.

Circular Nieuwoudtville - Oorlogskloof Road to the R364 over the Botterkloof and Pakhuis Passes to Clanwilliam.
Return to Nieuwoudtville via Vredendal wine cellars, Vanrhynsdorp and the Gifberg. A full day trip. This gravel Oorlogskloof road from Nieuwoudtville to Clanwilliam is also a very attractive alternative to the tarred R27 on your way to Cape Town. From Clanwilliam, to reach Cape Town, choose the West Coast road, thus first to Lambert's Bay fromClanwilliam, and then on past Paternoster, Langebaan and Cape Town. "The journey is part of the destination."

From Cape Town via the Moedverloor Pad to Nieuwoudtville
N7 to Clanwilliam. From Clanwilliam, take R364 over Pakhuis Pass and when you reach the farm Doringbos (68km from Clanwilliam), turn left at the small sign reading Moedverloor. This way you reach us via the Fynbos part, running along the escarpment edge with beautiful vistas, but there are about 10 gates that may be open or closed, and later cattle gates ( there are 3 of the latter that have cross bars over them to prevent heavy lorries going over them.) This unfortunately also prevents too high vehicles, like Land Rover, to pass under the cross bars, so more gates to open.
