History The 1897 Nedersetting is not only a magnificent original sandstone building with a warm-hearted atmosphere it also has stories to tell which date back as far as 1897 – A true historical gem!
This is a place of historical significance. The first settlement beacon was placed here in 1897 by the local surveyor, a certain, Watermeyer. He lived on the farm, Meulsteenvlei, 10km west of Nieuwoudtville towards the van Rhyn's pass. From there he traveled by horse to his office in town which was the very first building in Nieuwoudtville. The remains of the office and horse stable can still be seen on the stand today.
Cup-and-saucer (Colchicum coloratum) Hundreds of Cup and Saucer bulbs are in the natural garden surrounding the guest house & Coffee Shop.
Your hostess Alicia Nel Tobie and Alicia Nel recently became the proud owners of this treasure and immediately decided to utilize it to its full potential and to renovate it to its original stature. For both of them this dream come true that needs to be cherished and loved. Their dedication, enthusiasm, hospitality and love for people make them the perfect hosts for the Nedersetting Guesthouse. Even though this is a long-term project, they have decided the sooner they start the better, so that everyone can keep a watchful eye on their progress in the years to come. Their plans for the 2008 flower season are to change the previously Standard Bank premises into a guesthouse.
